0-60 test and gear ratio...correlation?

Hello all. I have read several posts concerning 0-60 tests, so I tried it on mine. I got anywhere from 15-23 seconds, depending on the road (slight incline vs. flat). My 1985 300sd has a different gear ratio (2.88 if I am not mistaken) from previous year models. Therefore, how many of you have similar/differing results according to year and gear? Or is mine just super slow?

Yours is similar. My car also has a 2.88 differential and my acceleration times are roughly 14-15 seconds on flat road.

It's important to do these tests on flat roads from a stand still. Also take into account the difference between a full/half/near empty tank of fuel. Judging from google, diesel weighs between 5.93 to 6.42 lbs. So let's assume 6 lbs which brings a full tank of diesel fuel at ~126 lbs.

That's a lot of extra weight in the back to be carting around

Your times are ok. I wouldn't worry about it. If the times concern you try doing a semi manual shift from L to S to D
