A/c worked, then found a major vacum leak fixed it and ac dies few miles later???

So my a/c didnt work when we got it, we manually grounded the high pressure switch so that the compressor came on all the time. After doing some investigation for some vacum problems(horrid shifts, no rear headreest assist, and not being able to move air flow around in cabin) We found that the main vacum line off the vacum pump(not for brakes...) was not hooked up

So once hooked up shifts were great, headrests worked, and then we decide to hook up the high pressure siwtch the way it was supposed to be. The a/c came on and worked great, we were pumped

Drove the car alittle that night and then went on a short trip the next day. The a/c worked great for the first 15 miles, and then just quit.

So what should I look for?
Theres no blown fuses...
Are there relays anywhere that I could check? If so where are they located?

PS: I still dont have a repair manual, so I dont have anything to refer to...

When you say "Quit" are you saying that the compressor stopped engaging or did the blower inside the car quit?

Answer to that will make a big difference in the reply.

The blower is still working fine but the compressor is not engaging. I grounded the high pressure switch again, and i hva a/c for now as a temporary fix like before. I just dont understand how it was working so great then bam nothing...
