What do you mean by knocking?

When the engine is running that patter patter patter is just valve clatter and is normal.

However in the case of some mistake or bad parts in the injection process can cause a small pinging that rides underneath of the clatter.

Break off the injector hard lines one by one to determine what cylinder is causing the pinging. From there find out where the problem is.

Some people say Marvel Mistery Oil does nothing but I have found it quiets the engine a little so I add it to the fuel when I think of it.

Being a former Machnist,I've used Marvel Oil at work and in all my vehicles. In diesel fuel it gets me better mileage,in gasoline the same and gives tired electric fuel pumps more life.Every winter I use one quart mixed in my Rotella in both gas and diesel.
Its good stuff.

the kind you can hear coming down the street and sounds unhealthy. there is no vibration in the engine, and power is good except when you mash the pedal. (that's kinda wimpy now)

i am now on a field service trip for 4 weeks and won't be able to work on the car till i return home. just gonna pull the head when i get back.
