Real Dynamat would be a better option. Even better, "Phat Mat" (cheaper). Then put the original hood pad on top of the Dynamat. The original Sound pad is designed to break up the noise (little squares everywhere). Something to do with acoustic waves or some S---. The engineers knew what they were doing. Follow in there foot steps....

I know, I really should have finished the job nicely.. I'm kind of an engine slob. There is that duct tape in the hardware stores that is foil... good idea. I think I have some. A dense material will not insulate the delicate old paint on the hood from heat as well as a highly porous material such as this. It is rather soft and almost completely compressible. Trapping as much air as possible is the key to deadening sound and damping heat transfer. |
