Did I put too much oil?

By measuring the dipstick, it is still with in the the two "waist/curvy notches" but not exactly in the middle more towards the high side. I put in about 7 quarts but remembered that my waste oil was ~6 qts. I changed the oil with out warming the car I changed the oil filler cap gasket but still I have oil seeping out of it and the hose that goes to the air filter. I have a hand siphon. Should I siphon some oil out. How bad is it if you overfill the oil? Thanks

If it's still withing the two notches you'll be fine. I wouldn't worry about it.

As long as it is not to far over the top mark on the dip stick you are fine.

Thanks. I am really new to this but I you just never now.

I also have a question with the the brake pad wear indicator light. It is starting to light up but would go away. Since it is cheaper here or ******** and the sensors are also available, I'll just get the pads online but at the soonest won't get them for a week or so. Is this indicator sort of an idiot light, meaning when it lights up you have already gone too far or do I have a week or so with normal driving.

Your fine, you still have about 5-10% of pad life left when the light comes one. But I recommend replacing the pads ASAP.

Agreed, it's usually more than 5-10% in my experience. A few more days should not be a problem.

I drive a similar car.
I've found that the best place for the oil level in my car is half way between the 2 notches. Higher and it leaks more on my driveway. I drain the oil (I wouldn't use a pump unless the oil pan had a lot point that I knew the suction tube was hitting), change filter, and add 7 quarts. Did you turn the oil fill cap upside down while you were changing the oil? I'll bet you did and old oil pooled in the cap. It's now showing up around the cap.

When my pad sensor goes on, the sensor wire has been cut by a small ridge that develops on the edge of the rotor. Pad is still good for a couple of weeks or so.

Welcme to the forum!!! I hope we can all help !

X2 with CR When the pad light stays on its time to stop driving. the ridge around the outside of the disk hits the sensor first. I have run around the edge of the disk with a file & removed the ridge on several occasions. The light goes away for a few thousand miles.
