My simple w123 coin holder mod

Following in the spirit of my very old thread here
Where do you put your spare coins?

I decided today to take apart the front ashtray and cut out the metal.

It was actually very easy to do as the metal was very soft. I am quite happy with the results.

Here is a pic of the metal chrome piece out of the holder.

and one with it installed in the holder

Sorry for the crappy picture, but I am happy with what I got. I'm guessing that the metal is copper since it is all very easy to cut. Underneath of the chrome finish it is that nice copper brown.

Eventually I will finish this by making the cut piece of metal perfectly even. It's hard to tell in the picture, but the edges are wavy since the metal cutters I was using weren't very precise.

I used a dremel to sand the edges down so no one can cut themselves on it.
