Looks good! you are going to love this combination! Get ready for compensating for turbo lag. It will be like the 240 for a sec, then the turbo will spool, and it will take off

Learned the hard way that you can't reuse the old motor mount bolts today, or that haynes is wrong on the torque spec. I'm assuming both. Pain in the ass, but at least it came out with the easy-out. Leaving for vacation tomorrow and need to finish the week after. Engine is currently resting on the mounts and some blocks. Just plug and chug at this point I hope.

Drive shaft was also finished today. $127.50 for just shortening. No balancing. The guy at my local machine/balancing shop where I took my flywheels told me to just put some big ass hose clamps onto the shaft and move 'em around 'til it feels good if I get any vibe issues.

Does anyone have a picture of the 240D auto crossmember? I bought one from Jim Harris here (about whom I've heard mixed feelings, but I've had luck with him in the past) and it doesn't even come close to fitting. Good news is, with some cutting and drilling, I fitted the original crossmember diagonally. Other than that, it's just plug and chug.

That X member came off a w123 240D Auto. I pulled it, and sent it to BGKAST.

When we did my 300 swap into my 83 240 there was a mount on the 240 that went from the side of the cross member right into the back of the drop down portion of the oil pan. There is not such a mount in the 300 motor, but my idie did not remove the tab from the side of the cross member. When I picked up the car there was a huge vibration since there was metal to metal contact.

I diagnosed the problem myself, IIRC, and they removed the tab and all was good.

Yep I saw that and removed it. Just started the engine and runs great-no vibes yet. Once I get the coolant plumbed right and flush it and the power steering fluid, I'll take it for a spin.

So what did you end up doing for the exhaust? I'd recommend just going with straight pipe from the turbo back. No resonator, or muffler. The turbo will act as a muffler. You can always add a muffler if you dont like the sound.

Chances are, you might like it.

Well, I've got about 8 inches of pipe from the turbo right now, and it sounds awesome. A local forum member has donated an exhaust that's good to the muffler and I'm going to splice it with the exhaust I got from the junkyard, I think. You're right about the sound cause it doesn't sound much different without the muffler.

Great success! Drove around the block, no offensive vibes to speak of. But, man, does that thing pull! I hardly had to work my foot, she just drives herself.
