Question 85 300d alignment Louisville KY

Anyone recommend a decent trustworthy alignment shop for my w123 300d in Louisville KY? Tired of getting the run around.

If all you need to do is toe-in, it is very easy to do yourself by making a very simple alignment tool that costs a few $ to make. I have adjusted toe-in on all my cars forever using the tool I designed and never have uneven tire wear problems.

I would love to hear more detail for both of these posts: the alignment shop in the Louisville area as well as how to DIY (the process and the tool).

Thanks,
.....Dan

I have probably 10K miles since I did the toe-in on the 300D the F tires are doing fine. No uneven wear.

you guys are forgetting a very important tool
you need a spreader bar to get the stretch out of the linkage, once you get value to spec with the spreader bar(pressed) in then you do the toe. No other way to do it

unless you want to spending a lot of money on alginments. I have found that some places dont have the correct specs for the alignment or they dont have the spreader bar and with in 6k or miles you tires start wearing abnormally. take it to the dealer and you only have to do it once.

Spreader bars? I don't have them and have been doing my toe in on all my cars and I never have uneven wear. Am I just lucky?

nah I like to work on the cars as engineers wanted a tech too. Ive been in the field and can tell that they are many people who think they are doing it right when they arent really.

look at the w126 service disc and you well see im right. yeah different chassis and angles but same suspension for the most part.

Is there only one way to do things?
So you tell me I am not doing it right. Well, I don't care! My tires are not wearing unevenly. That's what counts! for me anyway.

ps. I have been using the same tool and method to adjust toe-in on all my cars for the last 20 years. I have not paid a shop to do toe-in for that many years.
