w123 Windows Stopped Working

It's pouring outside and one of my windows is open! My girlfriend was driving home yesterday and she said the rear windows stopped working when she was putting them up, one still a few inches from being closed. The only window that now works is the driver's window. Both rears and the shotgun window are unresponsive. My thoughts are this: if it was a fuse then the driver's window wouldn't work. Or it could be something wrong with the "window lock" button but would that prevent the shotgun window from working? Let me be clear and say that I have tried the windows from all buttons and pressed the window lock button at least a dozen times and tried it in each position. Can someone help me out?

Not true. The windows are fused in diagonally opposite pairs. One complete pair isn't working.

That would not affect the operation of any window from the console switches.

So it's just a fuse and my rear passenger side window just so happened to stop working at the same time the fuse for the other windows blew? Which number fuse is it?

Fuse "a" powers the RF/LR windows, "b" is LF/RR.

The only situation that I can see that would affect all but the driver window is a break in the ground path in the left console window switch, possibly where the safety switch ties in.

(I am looking at the schematic for an '82, which is probably relevant to an '83 model.)

Trouble shooting:

Check the Fuses

Take Apart and clean the Switches

Remove the Door Panels and see if you can find anything wrong with the Regulator. Try Hot Wiring the Window Motor to see if it works.

After that look for open circuts in the wires near where the Door hinges.

Nothing found in the above ????

With the number of Windows suddenly not working someone else was driving the Car I am thinkng something got spilled into the switches.

The Fuse below took out 2 of my Windows. I looked good because it was not burned; until I pulled it.

Next shows the burned contacts inside of one of my Switches. I scraped them clean with a small knife and the Switch worked after that.

Ha, wouldn't doubt it if something was spilt into the switches! I replaced fuse a but fuse b is fine. I guess the rear right window did just happen to go out at the same time. It's possible we just didn't notice it not working until the other ones stopped working as well. Thanks for the help; glad I got the window closed-they're calling for rain all day!
