power windows 300sd

Gentlemen,

The power window gremlin struck without warning today. I did replace a few suspicious fuses.

But, the passenger side front window still does not work. The driver side rear window works. They are the same circuit. The other circuit, driver side front and passenger side rear, works fine.

Sounds like a console switch or (horrors) a window motor, eh? Somebody talk me down from the ledge and give me an easy fix.

I recovered a passenger side rear motor from Nevada Pic-A-Part last year same year. Are the motors identical or do I need a front motor if the diagnosis is the motor (which I doubt).

Thank You
Joe Marroso

You'll have to count the teeth, seems they changed a couple of times. You may have to get to the motor itself and apply power to know for sure.
Mine is the same way, I even replaced the switch, no difference.

There is a terminal block in the door where the wires going into the door mate withthe wires to the motor. Put your multimeter on the wires then hit the switch. If your getting voltage it's not the switch.

Gentlemen,

I decided to sleep on the problem and prepare for the daunting job in the morning. Before retiring, I blasted the offending switch with WD-40. Wiped the console, and blasted it again. I engaged the switch, but no go. In the morning, however, the switch worked--- first time! I even tempted fate and ran the window up and down a bunch of times. I will liberate and rebuild a switch from the Pic-A_Part later but for now she works.

Thank You,
Joe Marroso

Removing, disassembling and cleaning the switch would probably a wise move. Just so the happy ending isn't short-lived.
