Too hot?
Photo below. Running A/C off and on -- probably 92 degrees (F) outside today, and we were on the road for about 90 minutes at this point. Highway speed. Seem too hot? Will go down to just above 80 if I turn off the A/C for 5-10 mins.
Maybe I haven't been paying attention, but it seems like I'm seeing warmer temps and have just replaced the thermostat. May be time for a citrus flush? -Chuck

absolutely not. it's not even up to water's boiling point (100 deg C) let alone the overheating point (120 dec C). You're asking the engine to do more work, and you've reached an equilibrium point with the cooling. If it were at 100 or more then I'd start to get concerned.
That's just me, though.

That's fine. Anything under 100C, don't worry about it. Also remember that the gauge is not necessarily accurate. Check the engine with an infrared thermometer before worrying.

Thanks folks. I've been fussing a little because my WVO temp gauge has been approaching 200 degrees (F), and that seems like a change and may have accuracy issues there. Clearly I'm fussing too much. Probably I need an infrared measurement to settle things, as suggested!
Happy 4th! Chuck

What, exactly, does that mean?

Thats exactly where mine sits when warmed up, all the time. Sometimes it raises just a tad more but never much. Is it supposed to be sitting right on the 80c mark?

It means that the cooling system is getting rid of the engine's heat sufficiently well that the temperature of the coolant does not continue to rise (heat out = heat in). Implied is that the thermostat is working properly, the radiator is not clogged, the fan is working, the outside cooling air is absorbing heat from the radiator, etc.

In the 100's here these days. Ours ran uphill for 75 miles at about that same temp today with the AC on all the way. No worries.

If it starts getting near that little red bit, time to get concerned.
