Ha, it was cheap but not that cheap. Now that I have a diesel I have to learn how to be really cheap and start doing things like tracking mileage running cars on used oil.

Any other suggestions?
Buff that baby out, get some vintage wheel covers on it, and it'll have every bit as much cache' as any new Cadillac or Lincoln - just my honest opinion...

Besides - it may be time to start a thread named; "Cheap MB Diesel Sedan/Coupe Club."

Who's with me!!!

The CD Manual also has the Chassis Manual in it.

For others: The same site is also selling the Paper Chassis Manual at $49.99 plus shipping.

Thanks, it will get a polish and that paint will buff out. However, There are rust areas on the trunk lid and roof that will need to be taken care of. I'll get this car painted at the local Maaco that had done good work for me in the past.

Today I bought it a brand new battery as the old one that I had in there was not holding a charge and replaced the master cylinder. The pressure on the pedal is much better now that I bled the system but the brakes are out of balance and it pulls hard to the right. I suspect that either the hoses or the calipers need to be replaced. The fuel gauge does not work so before I drove it home I stopped by the gas station to fill it up. The tank was full which is nice.

The drive home was quite well behaved so before I got to the house, i pulled up to the local car wash and gave the engine bay a good hosing down as it was covered in caked up dirt.

The car is now registered and the inspection does not expire until Oct so I have plenty of time to address all of the other items.

Welcome to the Diesel world Al. I recently purchased one myself. After lurking here for several years I finally pulled the trigger. Glad to hear you bought one too.

BTW... My father owned a 1977 300D for about 15 years. He sold it with 350,000 miles.

Al

Welcome to the world of diesels. You know that engine in there will last a million miles, right? Be careful of feeding it biodiesel --- you will be doing the fuel delivery valves!!! Remember the rubber fuel lines back at the tank.

PM sent.
