The seats in my 85 240D were really cheezy. All cloth, no outer MB tex panels and a light color to boot, "baby poop yellow". The front seat backs were plastic with kind of a 'hump" down the center and noticeably "thinner" than our regular 123 seats, felt thinner too:rolleyes: I replaced the interior (except the headliner) with one from a low mileage 240 that had a blown engine now all is comfy and well:P

The TD I just got had the same seats but at least in MB tex.
Replaced those and now all is comfy and well there too:P

I swaped out my 85 300D drivers seat with a passenger seat bottom spring box. I had 2 broken springs.
It was a real learning experience working through getting which track moved the right way to line up the screws with the holes in the oposing track. the screws will come out with enough patients. had to use a large Phillips and a Vice Grip clamped to it with a lot of down force to break the screws free. I sure didn`t want to strip out the screw head.

I took pictures as I went along, so I had a reference to get it back together. even so, I have the seat in the highest elevation setting. some how, even though I thought I had all the springs, levers connected right, something got over looked . I like it where it is, and it ain`t coming back out.

There was a 84 Euro 230E, (think it is gone now) that had almost perfect blue cloth interior. looked to have been garaged most of it`s life.
the seat backs didn`t have the nets. also the passenger seat only had the forward/rear adjustment. didn`t have the elevation adjustment.
the rear of the seat had some little metal risers it sat on. the one closest to the pass door, had a spacer/bolt connecting it to the body to keep the seat steady and from wabbling I guess.
another interesting thing on this car, it didn`t have A/C.
It did have 150mph spedo.

I like the 85 euro seats, more of a butt socket instead of a marshmallow, a real hot one on a july afternoon at that. Can't wait to make a good driver out of the 2 cloth ones. Starboard gets the 77 marshmallow for my wife, my son wants the capt. kirk seat, I'll make him a plywood base w/ casters if I ever get through the honeydews.
