Your statements are valid as well. A running defective alternator can produce problems. His case is just more like ours was I believe.

It staggered me when examining a major alternator repair facility that closed down. They did not even have a scope hooked up to their test bench to examine the three phases being generated properly at the same amplitude during the rebuilding.

Between using various shortcuts and inferior aftermarket replacement components their return percentage of rebuilt alternators was too high to stay in business. Far to high a percentage of aftermarket repair parts for starters and alternators are garbage. Or where at that time.

Is the Industry term for the substandard Alternator/Starter Reman system

All of the Big Box stores (Advance,AZ,Pepboys,O'reilly's,Etc.)forced the Industry
to start reman ing to a price point.
[Or at least that's the story the Reman ers give]
