As you know you are pre loading with the brake addition. Just in my limited opinion I would not exclude front end components. For the time it takes to check them all out. Could be something worn dangerously loose.

This by the way is just an opinion but something I would check. Also check for major slop in a front wheel bearing. When the brakes are applied it may semi stabilise one.

I really do not think I would drive this car at higher speeds until the problem is located. Also examine body to suspension points carefully. More so if real rust is present. This could be something pretty minor or worse.

Nothing to replace yet until you find some indicator of a condition that needs repaired. I assume you are refering to the front wheel bearings.

Jack one front wheel off the ground at a time. Try to pull the tire in and out. Also try gripping the tire at the top and bottom. There should be no play when pushing on the top of the tire and pulling outward on the bottom. You also should examine tie rods etc for wear. If you are not familiar with these mechanical areas try enlisting a friend to assist you.

Also take a wheel wrench and make sure all the wheel bolts are snug on all wheels.
