Junkyard Find--300D RHD

I know, I know, it's so lame to post this without pics. Sorry in advance. I was so overwhelmed with seeing the MK1 Rabbit Limo I thought about making into a LeMons car last year that when I saw a beat down 300D that looked like it was stored under a sap fountain for years I forgot to get the pics. Upon closer inspection, it was a right hand drive model, manual trans, cloth interior. I'm thinking it was made for an area that does not require 5MPH bumpers. IIRC the bumpers were still on. In any case, the car is at the pull-a-part in Buford, GA. If I get back that way I'll take pictures and verify Euro bumpers. Not even sure if they are of value in the MB community.

Here's a link to the yard in case anyone's interested. Other interesting finds--a fully in tact Pugeot 505, an '83 Le Car, and an Opel Manta. Oh, and the aforementioned Rabbit Limo. I mean, seriously, who junks those???

I have been meaning to go out there but this heat is painful. Maybe Sunday. Manual or auto?

That Rabbit limo sounds interesting since it would look ridiculous. It would probably benefit from a TDI upgrade though.

The Benz was a manual. The rabbit limo an automatic. Yes, it looked weird. Sort of a 70's Routan in that it kind of resembled a first gen Dodge Caravan. Weird...

I gotta go back and get some pics.

I found one after searching on ebay for a month...The add was for an M-pump, but the guy listed the car as a 300D 4-speed manual. I called and inquired if he had the flywheel and he did - $125.00. The great thing about it is that it was local and no shipping fees!

It was a wrecking yard and I think that this flywheel was actually sitting on the shelf, it had some rust, but it specs out as a new one.

Moral of the story, read the entire ad!

Would be interesting to find out what the VIN is, this would give some history as to where the car came from.

OK guys, I'm going back today. Stay tuned. I'll get the VIN and take as many pics as I can. But I don't really see myself separating the engine/trans on a car that's welded to some steelies over a greasy bed of rocks. Sorry.

If there's any other info anyone wants, let me know.

Tim

You know I'll be there too Charlie!

Hey t-cup I know this is long shot, but if this car has a automatic left mirror can you pick it up for me?

If that Peugeot has 14" alloys, they are the only wheel that swaps over to the old Subarus with the 4lug pattern. They're worth about $200 as a set if you grab the lug nuts too.

Guys--I feel like a complete douche. The car is a 280, not a 300D. Pics are below.
