Nice write up.
I just did my 240D upper control arms last weekend; did both in under an hour. I'm no mechanic, but it is a definately a DIY job. Used the jack-under-the-control-arm (safety) method. Don't forget: you probably will need an alignment afterwards. |
i'm having a hell of time with this job. 86 560SEL
1. my LCA hardly came down when i separated the ball joint 2. the bolt that goes through the body and the rear of the upper control arm only goes through the first bushing. does it thread through the rear bushing?? i'm thinking i may have to somehow jack up the torsion bar a little just to get the damn thing back in. |
You just need to line it up. Leave the forward sway bar bushing off of both sides and that will give you a little more wiggle room to line it up. You may have to hammer it back through but make sure it's going through the second bushing before you start wacking on it.
