1980 240D linkage

I was wondering if anyone out there has a 1980 240d that they could possibly make some photos of the linkage for me? I can't find info on the linkage for the 1980, which seems specific to this year only. Not sure?

What I have is a 79 engine transplanted into the 1980 car. I can't seem to get the linkage right. The car has low power and the linkage feels loose. I have tightened it up as best I can but I really don't know what it is supposed to look like.

When I floor the pedal (from a stop) there is a delay of a second or two/three before much happens. It's very slow to get going. The linkage is not hitting the IP stop with the pedal to the floor but it is hitting the stop on the IP when I push down the kick down switch. Is that right? What else might be causing the slow start? Thanks in advance for any help.

The rubber grommet on the firewall is intact and looks fine, thanks.

Any other ideas?

Follow the linkage from the firewall towards the IP. On my 81 it was missing the bushing where the linkage meets the bracket on the IP. I did a cob fix with popsicle sticks and duct tape to take up the slop.
No other adjustment was necessary.

Do you mean the area I circled in red on the photo? It is really sloppy right there the rod moves in and out and the connection is pretty loose. Am I missing a bushing there?

Any comments on how the linkage looks? Is it right?

It shouldn't be that sloppy, IMO.
Here are a couple of pics that may help and the third one, I don't understand why that item I circled is there. On mine, newer versions, that is part of the bushing on the firewall and has a cotter pin, see first pic.

The end of the linkage rod on mine is different as it is more of a 2 prong forked affair that slides into corresponding slots on the IP bracket.
I will get a pic.

Those diagrams are exactly what I was looking for thank you. Clearly my linkage is really goofed up. I hooked it up the way it was before but that was obviously not right.

It's hard to see in my photo but the end of the rod coming off the firewall does have a fork on the end of it. If I took it apart I could show that better. Well it needs to come apart now anyway.

Thanks folks I really appreciate the help!

You're welcome.
The 80 model was a bit different, so take that into consideration.
Good luck and keep us posted.
