How Rare Is This?
1979 300CD. If I've ever seen one, I can't remember when.

Not particurally rare not exactly easy to find either. However the miles are low for a diesel. Personally i'd hold off for an 85 like the one I missed out on a few months ago. (It has a better rear diff that makes highway driving much better)
If you don't mind gasoline there is a very nice Euro 280CE in the for sale section right now. FS euro 1980 280ce, southern CT EDIT-Just looked up the production numbers 7,502 300CD (1,834 for 1979 model year) 8,007 300CD Turbo

I think Mercedes bought in a lot of these, well, a lot for Mercedes anyway, with diesel engines to get their CAFE numbers up.

There's a New England guy in the cars section of the forum practically giving away his 300D if you're looking to buy
FS: 1984 300D- needs love or parts car

Wow, I can't believe no one has bought that 300D. I wasn't really interested in another sedan (since I have a 124), but that one has my attention. I just happened to see the ad for the coupe and couldn't remember seeing a diesel one.
That's a nice looking car, Fulcrum. I'd like to get my hands one one and I'd really like for it to be a diesel.
