I used it a few times when I had my diesle (plastic tank method). I did notice quite a bit of improvment on acceleration and engine response, but seemed to be right back to the way it was prior after about a week.

Id did a great job on my 300SD with the 617 in it. I would do a plastic bottle purge about 2x a year and the amount of black in the bottle and the smoke was amazing.

I did it once or twice on the SDL with the 603 and the stuff never changed color. I am thinking that is because I run B2 in this car.

The 300SD would run quieter and with a bit more pep after a treatment.

My experience on '79 240D

I ran a few tanks of B-50 or higher which did clean out my fuel system. I know because after 120 miles of driving I had to change my pre-filter. I should mention that my car sat for several years hardly getting driven at all - so I know it must have been pretty cruddy.

I was still having nailing when cold, and with our cold winters around here the nailing was pretty bad on cold days. I followed the DP in a clear bottle method.

The return was not black, but a dark amber. There was noticeable fine debris floating in the returning DP. My engine got smoother and quieter after only 30-45 seconds, then continued to improve for the next few minutes.

After completing the process I drove the car. First thing I did was drive up the steep hill I live on. There was a noticeable gain in torque. By the time I got to the first turn, I was going almost 23mph! Normally I can't hit 20 on the same run. (18 or 19 more like it) The engine was very smooth and quiet. There was no visible soot coming from my tailpipe. (Before the purge there was a bit of black soot when climbing that hill.)

I've driven about 1200 miles since I did the purge last year and my engine still runs much smoother and quieter. I stored the car over winter last year. I'm still amazed at how smooth and "powerful" my engine is. I hit 85mph on my way home, as my mother followed me in my Camry. Besides being amazingly peppy for a 65 hp car, there was no visible exhaust either.

So I say it's a good product!

Anything over B20 may degrade 25+ year old rubber fuel lines and cause a leak. But if you have upgraded to biodiesel compatible fuel lines run B100. It is the best solvent to clean out your entire fuel system from tank to injectors. Remember to carry extra fuel filters.

Has this occurred to you?

I have run B100 in my SD and SDL with only the return lines starting to seep over the course of years.

Again, there is no miracle in a bottle/tank that will take the place of new nozzles.

I have done many diesel purges over the years on all my mercs...
I was always anticipating a difference....Never did.
So I'm not so convinced anymore that it does what it says it does!
Only my opinion.

Yes in both my vehicles. My 300D developed the common return line leaks but so did the small hose connecting the tank to the steel supply line. That hose leaked so bad it spotted my driveway. My truck developed a return line leak too. So now both my vehicles have J30R9 fuel injection hose which is B100 compatible for all the fuel lines except the 300D has Viton return lines. I run B100 during the summer.

The other cat said run a tank. One tank will not cause harm.

Thats an old myth. Please stop perpetuating it.

If it causes a leak its only because it cleared out the crud that was plugging the cracks/pores. Rubber fuel lines shouldn't even make it to 25 years before being replaced as part of normal maintenance.

How about some one with a poor running motor, pulling a couple of their injectors (say 1 & 3) testing the spray pattern & taking a pic of it, then taking them to pieces, taking pics of the insides, putting them back together without a clean, replace them onto the car.
Then do a purge, pull all the injectors & do the same.
We can compare the pics & see for our self.

I am very skeptical of any one who has 3 posts, been on here a few days & has no info about them and then is accusing a member who has been here for a couple of years of spreading myths.
We appear from time to time to get such new members who then varnish as quick as they came.

Okay now that that is out there. Which sizes and approximately how much fuel line should I buy. As far as I know 1 line was replaced 10 year ago. To play it safe I want to replace all the rubber lines.

I have never seen any real results from purges. OTOH, replacing worn injectors and adjusting valves produces very noticeable results.

Get J30R9 5/16" fuel injection hose. Not J30R7!!! It's expensive. It may run $5/foot but will take B100 no problem. You will probably want to replace the three hoses from under the tank (supply, return & breather hose). For all three 2'+ of hose should do. Then measure the lengths of hose under the hood that you want replaced and you have your total length. Be smart and get an extra foot of hose...just in case.

You won't find our size return hoses in Viton at an auto parts store. I had to order mine from an online Benz website.

Thanks for the info. I am going out to install a new window regulator and install
my new glow plugs. As always the people on this site are extremely helpful.
