Made radiator repair, caused another.
While replacing all belts and replacing my power steering pump, I lightly rested my hand on the upper radiator neck/hose. It broke, so I investigated making the neck repair, per posts listed here. Once I let everything cure after 24 hrs. I started it up and guess what? The upper tank cracked in another place and the entire neck area and surrounding portion of the tank broke off. At least the core looked clean. So I am contemplating re-tanking it for $80-100 or seeing if a fellow member has a good used one for sale until I can buy a new one. Let me know what you all think. vstech - you got any local resources - cheap cheap cheap? I would really be taking my chances at Pull-a-Part.

I have put a new top tank on. Its a bit fiddly, Well more a PITA but you can do it.
I used long nosed pliers & a little RTV on the new seal. Made sure everything was perfectly clean before I put it back together. I hope your core is good! You can determine if a tank is any good by trying to scrape the plastic on the inside of the top inlet. If you can scrape the plastic away, its a bit crumbly, its junk. The hot water degrades the plastic over time. Good Luck !!

Honestly, I would just spend the money and get a new radiator, it can be had for less than $300 on this site for a new Nissens unit. Just something that is a fairly high failure rate (as you've experienced), do it right the first time - my $0.02

Yeah I intend to replace with new, but for the time being, I need cheap. Teaching affords me a pay check for the school months, but pretty much on my own for 2 months, so here at the end, a car repair takes a chunk out of whats left. Only 2 more weeks though. Thanks, I will try the tank idea and then buy a Nissen in a month or two.
