I had an accident caused by a person who made a Left Turn acrossed Traffic in front of me with no Signal Arrow that would have given the right of way. But, I was not insured at that time. The other Driver had un-insured motorist so her insurance paid to fix her car. However, the DMV summoned me to a meeting with the other Driver and a DMV Official. Since it was determined I was un-insured I had my Drivers Lisc. suspended for 1 year. But for paying the fine and an extra fee (and showing proof that I now had insurance) I was able to get a limited Lisc. to go back and forth to work for that year. So if you notify the Law depending on your State Law something could have been done against the driver who dented your car and had canceled Insurance. That was as long as 20 years ago. Now out here in CA if an Officer stops you and you have no Insurance they tow your Car. As well as the fines and Lisc. suspension. The DMV might even cancel out your Regestration for that year. It might also be that you need to get Insurance before you could even get your Car out of the Tow Yard.

My sister backed into my 190E with her 190E, so now it has some fender damage right above the right rear wheel, while her car suffered only a broken tail light (which she remedied by getting the one from the car she wrecked, another 190E).
I've helped her acquire BOTH 190E's and helped her fix them up only to see her mess up the new grille on the first one via the apartment complex gate (she was reaching for her phone that fell on the floor), place a good sized dent on the quarter panel of her car when she backed into another at a parking lot (and took off), and finally wrecked the first one (after a number of new items have just been installed). She still owes me to have that portion repaired. Good thing I was not bringing my 300D that time.
