Don't Do THIS!

Replaced Fuel Shut-Off Valve over the weeekend (79SD). Last night, my wife had to leave the car on the side of the road when it raced up to full power and would not relent. I had not properly rreplaced the clip that locks the throttle(?) liinkage to the altitude detection unit. The rod dropped and jammed against the motor. Silver lining - the super high revs. seem to have cleared the Vacuum Pump and the system is working more efficiently than ever. Is it possible that the revs. caused the Vacuum System to fully charge?

My throttle linkage got stuck once because of insufficent lubrication. I had to turn the key off, put it in neutral and cost to the shoulder. Not fun.
