High Oil Pressure ?

This 300D engine is running max scale at speed, but about half scale at idle. Is this normal?

Also, I have a Longitudinal and Cross Section Transparency of an OEM 352 that I would be glad to dissiminate via email if anybody thinks they need it. Can't send you a transparency, but if you an an astute computer user you could probably make one. I have had this for well over 25 years, so I know it is an older engine. It is Diamler-Benz drawing KTG 12317. I think I looked it up once and I believe it belongs in something like the Unimog.

Ditto. My 83 300D runs full three bars at normal driving speed, & drops to around half that at idle. I use Delvac 5W40, & use a mixture of that & some Mobil 1 0W30 in the colder months for easier starting. There has been no noticible change on the oil pressure from change of seasons & temperatures. I have always used Mobil/Delvac synthetic, however as I have an opportunity to get Amsoil products for considerably less $, I am considering the change. The posts on this forum would seem to indicate that Amsoil is as good as Mobil 1 Delvac Synth., however I welcome feedback on that. (These guys are probably pretty sick & tired of the ongoing oil debate by now, as that topic seems to have been thoroughly flogged. I however, will gladly continue to participate in the Great Oil Debate.)
Regards.
