Thank you so much! It's strange because, when you first drive it it shifts "on time" but after a while, it starts shifting later. I'm gonna adjust it and see what happens I suppose.
Thanks again for all the help.

When we first got the 81, it took me a while to get used to the idea of letting off the pedal just a hair when I felt like I'd gotten it up the the right rpm, which lets mine kick in the next gear. i was used to my smooth shifting suburban, or my old stick dually. I hated this car. Even worse when my wife had figured it out and kept telling me to do it. I'd run that thing up till it was whining up the highway. Now it seems natural. Cold weather is when it doesn't want to shift on ours.

My last 1979 300SD had hard shifting but I think that the leaking door locks and climate control where causing them. I plugged them off with a golf tee and did a transmission fluid and filter change (used Redline D4). It made a big improvement.

My somewhat recently-acquired 1980 300SD takes about 5 minutes of running before the transmission will move the car and then it takes about another minute of driving before it will shift into 3rd gear. I have a 5 speed manual transmission and I think I just might swap it out and be done with it. Also, there will be no more transmission pan gasket to leak or coolant lines to worry about!

Hey squiggle dog! Thanks for the introduction! lol, haven't seen too many 116s around, it's good to know that there are, finding parts has been really difficult to say the least.
Yeah, when I first got the car 3-4 would flare and I'd let off the pedal a bit to ease the rpms. It's strange to me how it seems to have a mind of it's own.
