Today, about a minute after starting my 1995 E300D, I got a high pitched whinng-whistling nose from the trunk area.
I turned the radio on then off but the noise wasn't comming from the power antenna. Any thoughts?

If it happens when you're not moving, then that rules out the drivetrain. I know the W126 has an electric vacuum pump in the trunk spare tire wheel well. How's your vacuum?

It should look like a box with vacuum lines attached to it under the rear seat. Passenger side, I think. Maybe it's in the trunk in your car.

The whine might be a central locking vacuum or pressure leak. Do the fuel filler door and trunk lock and unlock with central locking?

I found the v-pump in the trunk. Thanks. Everything is working ok and the noise hasn't come back. There is nothing I can do until it acts up again. Thanks all. Jay
