X2 with 911 on adding startron.
The reason you have a problem is you have a contaminated fuel tank.
It needs to be debugged.
The black stuff is dead bugs. Its a common problem with diesel.
Best start using a different diesel supply.
Unless a fuel station has a high turn over of diesel, best you stay away from them. The stations where the trucks fill up are the best.

I would use the biocide before trying anything else. Change the primary filter and perhaps the secondary. The tank strainer is a major pain to remove and it is the easiest to clean with the biocide. the biocide will kill the bacteria and make it flow through the filter and burn out.

Thanks, This is all good information. I will jack up the car and take a look. As it stands right now if car starts easier after I have replaced both filters I will wait until the coming week and do the hoses and strainer at the tank. The shop that rents out the lifts have told me it is not very busy during the week. I believe that having it up like that will work better. As for the socket I see what I have and if I ned to girnd one so be it. I am fairly certain I have the correct size since I bought a lot of larger metric and std sockets and box ends to work on
my old Range Rover's suspension.
