Good replacement for seat padding in W123 seats: Life Vest Foam
I thought I would mention this. A while ago when I got my 240D I had saggy seats (as probably anyone with a car with 250,000+ miles on it does).
In the garbage I found an old life vest. Not big orange thick ones, but the more modern ones that are actually shaped like vests - as you might see water skiers using. I took my seat out and flipped it over I cut open the life vest and cut the foam into I think 4 strips that fit across the width of the seat (necessary because it would be impossible to get in the whole pad at once without removing the tex covering, which I did not want to do, risking ripping/damaging it in removal/replacement). I then carefully pulled up the springs and inserted the foam between the springs and the decaying horse hair. The strips were inserted lengthwise from front to back, in the same direction as the strips sewn into the MB tex. I wore leather gloves because some of my springs are broken and would have cut my hands up pretty badly. Almost 2 years later the foam is still holding up very well and is comfortable. You can probably find this type of life vest at any thrift store. I see them all the time around here, but it is California. To me it seems better than the pool noodle method because the foam is not as thick (easier to get in between the seat and springs), is not rounded, and seems more substantial.
