W124 300D 10 Degree Coolant Increase with A/C

Hey all,
Quick question. I'm in Central Florida. Coolant temp will run steadily at 80C no problems with out the A/C. When I utilize the A/C temps will run 90ish+. Sometimes hitting 100C when I'm really on the throttle. Will slightly rise with out A/C on.

I realize this is in the safe zone (normal zone).

I'm just curious about the A/C load condenser adding 10 degrees in front of the radiator. Is this pretty typical?

I'm getting 30 deg F temp drop from the A/C system. Both fans are working properly. Well low speed. Never gotten to 110 ish for the fans to come on high speed.

Just looking for opinions.
Thanks in advance.

Sounds like what my 350SDL does. With the AC condenser in front of the radiator the air to cool the coolant just isn't as cool

Sounds perfectly normal. Both of mine (91 and 92) behave similarly. I routinely see 105 under severe (stop and go with AC on) conditions.

I get that out of my OM606. With temps here over a 100 for two weeks the temp gauge is routinely at the 100c mark....

my 77 300d did that consistantly. My 300sd never quite gets above 90 even with green coolant. after the look of shame on you i got...i went and completely flushed everything. now im on zerex G-05. no change in the temps. if you want to get crazy...undo the clips on the fan shroud and between the condensor and radiator and wash the bugs and gunk out of there. you will get better heat transfer that way. also you can take condensor cleaner and strip the paint off of the condensor and radiator.

My W124 300D does the same as yours. I've wondered if it was normal and it sounds like it is. Good thread.
