Thanks Junkman. Nice pictures. I was able to verify from the schematic what I decided yesterday from staring at the unit in my car....namely that if I want to remove the abs unit I will need to either install a non abs master cyl. with two fittings for front brake lines or install a y on the outlet for the two lines going to each front wheel. With ABS the mc just has one outlet for the front wheels which goes to the abs unit. The unit serves as a y since it has two outlets for front brake lines.

It also looks like if I want to I can probanbly bend the lines which come the wheels to the abs unit back and attach them directly to the mc. It will look a little jerry rigged but should work.

Talk to Roy. The pics are from the FSM. You need one. Remainder of the file is too large. I won't have time to break it up until later.

I easily found an ABS for $20 necessitated when I cross threaded the lines. Once removed from the ABS, they should go back in by hand. Any push & the threads are toast. Clean with a tap & they won't seal.

I am pretty experienced with brake lines but thanks for the warning.

We bypassed the abs unit.

The MC has two outlets just like a non abs car and the steps are the same size in the mc so braking should be identical to a non abs equipped car. The second outlet for front brakes was plugged from the factory in the abs application. Connecting the rear lines togeter with a union thereby bypassing the abs unit and doing the same for one of the front lines is all that is needed. The plug must be removed from the mc and the second front brake line must be extended to the mc. Be sure to get the european bubble style metric brake lines and fittings.

Picking out the correct lines to connect together is not the easiest thing. I mixed some up the first time around and it was impossible to bleed the brakes.

So it is possible to do, but I would place it as a project not for the beginner hobbiest.
