T'was Dave, not me. i don't know if it was an old or new style. There are more than two front cover part numbers in the EPC.





If replacing, consider a 606 front cover if it will fit so you can use a 606 style vane vacuum pump.

Well forum family, it was simply the tensioner bracket bolt coming lose. The threads that I saw when looking from the top were those of the bolt. I diassembled everything, applied some lock-tight(blue) reassembled and again the pulleys are back in perfect alignment. It gave me a real scare...so much so that I was afraid to pop the hood last night.
