Different Model

My apologies for this basic question, but if someone can point to a site that will tell me the difference that will work also. Anyway, I was driving home last night, as I was approaching a traffic light to stop. A Benz fulled up with the windows open so I asked the driver what year his Benz, he said 1985 300D.

I probably looked like a retard from my expression because his can looked nothing like mind the only difference is mind is an SD. The body on his look older and smaller. here's the question: What's the difference between the 300D to the 300SD. I know the head lights on mind were moded with the ureo lights, and mind appeared to have a wider and taller body style.

300D wikipedia article. Pretty good model timeline at the bottom of the page showing what was made when, and what models were available at the same time in the product offering from MB-

300SD wikipedia article (126) Also check out the 300SD 116 chassis version-

The SD's and the D's are really different. The engines are the same but most everything else is different.
