diesel fuel leaks on 1999 e300 td engine

I am experiencing a slight fuel leak around thr IP. I suspect that a seal between the IP and a injector rail is leaking. How do I remove the injector railto get to the seal.

Paul,
I'm not sure what part you're looking for but that motor is known for leaks around the IP caused by the O rings on the plastic fuel lines. Could also be the O ring behind the shut-off valve. Just my $.02 but I would investigate the simple stuff before I touch the IP.

Agreed on the o rings. There's no fuel rail on these cars since it's not a common rail injection system.

You might trying spraying the dirtier areas of the IP with degreaser and cleaning it up to try and pin point the source of the leak.

You might also want to check the delivery valve area at the top of the IP. I had a leak in that area that was almost impossible to see. Cleaned the top of the IP with carb cleaner, wiped it dry, and ran the engine. The leaking fuel was hardly noticeable to the naked eye, but when you ran your finger along the top, you could feel the dampness. The fuel would work its way towards the rear of the IP, and then drip down into the belly pan, where it would puddle up. Had to change the delivery valve seals and copper crush washers, and that did the trick.

The delivery valve seals are a common item. I did them on mine myself. The tool to remove the valve will run you $30-$50. Just take your time on this procedure and read parrot's instructions and you'll be fine.
