123 climate control instructions...
I've spent the last hour using the search feature, hoping to get a better understanding of the cryptic climate control buttons on my '84 300TD wagon.
I bought the wagon with no belt on the A/C compressor, no pressure in the lines and a blower with worn out brushes. I am in the middle of sorting all that out, but I still don't have an understanding of the basic controls. I should have the blower working in a few days once my replacement brushes have arrived, and I hope to start diagnosing the A/C system soon after the blower blows. However, the enigmatic climate controls remain a mystery to me. Can anyone please help me find a picture guide to what the buttons are supposed to do? Many thanks! -steve

The owner's manual has a detailed description of the climate control system; as I no longer own a 123, I can't post pictures. You might be able to find the owner's manual in pdf somewhere in the forum or elsewhere on the web or (heaven forbid!) actually buy a copy on eBay or books4cars.com.

What they were meant to do... and what they actually do may be different...
My 81 wagon buttons took my pushing them as only the mildest of suggestions... might work 20 minutes and quit.. might not do that at all.... might do it a while and then quit... the diagnostic on the stuff behind that row of buttons is about 80 pages long.... a big reason that I sold my 81 and got the 240 with the manual type one AC in it..

^ This is true, the CCU or rather ACC, the push button unit itself, is a high failure item, leading to all sorts of frustration.

If the PB control unit acts up, just buy a rebuilt one from these guys:
