what's a good price for a decent condition 87D?

I'm thinking 1500 is awesome no?

Decent body usually means decent engine. I see them here in FL from 1000-5000 depending on condition. Decent body and decent engine around 200k miles without service books and fair interior, under 2000. I am waiting to find one for $500 or less with a decent engine for my dads rodbender!

I suppose I should define "decent". Junker > Poor > Decent > Okay > Good > Great > Showroom. I guess that puts it into perspective. A daily drivable car with okay interior, and only needs some bushings/rubber underneath and the usual neglected items would get 2k-3k I would say.

talking with the seller, the car has no overheating issues, the a/c works great, and the interior is perfect. (he thought tex was leather but I forgive that.) around here rust is not usually much of an issue, but I know where to look to verify it's sound.
also available is a set of 8 hole 16" wheels for another 100.0... I'm stoked.

Not much..it's a 23 year old car with no collector value, and very expensive to repair.

ok, further inspection finds a noisy motor. the exhaust manifold is cracked at the flex tube, no biggie. oil pressure fluctuates at temp at idle from 1.5 to 2 so it needs an oil change with o-rings. the full set of rims turns out to be a set of CLK 17" 7 hole rims, very nice, but the're a tad large for the car.
so, it needs a full going through on the injectors to quiet the engine, a cleaning, and a few addressing changes.
it's good to have a spare car for parts, but I think I'll get this one cleaned up and drive it. the rims will go on my new 450SL...

Good interior is always a HUGE plus for me! How many miles are on the car? 603s are addicting.

Looks like I may be picking one up for $400-$500 soon. 200k miles and decent interior, not sure if it is running entirely, but at that price it doesn't much matter. I am going to try and check it out this week.

I just bought signal RED 1987 300D in non-running condition for $450 but one owner with some service records plus new tires suspension brakes etc. Used FREE AAA to tow it and changed glow plugs and new battery and that started right away and drives smother than my 1993 300D. Funny part this thing was listed on autotrader for a month. I bought it at the dealer they took it for a $200 as a trade not running so they did not care about it.

what would you rather keep??

1993 300D

or

1987 300D

I like 1993 body cladding but 1987 seems like a better built with more power. Which car is considered better?
