1995 E300D Surging Question
The car is starting to surge on a regular basis. Let me describe the situation....
When I first start the car there is a bit of surging at idle, but this goes away fairly soon after started (assuming some air getting in, but it will start without fail regardless of the physical position of the vehicle, such as pointed up or down, etc.). The real issue is that if I'm driving at approx 45mph steady, after leaving the home in the a.m., the car will surge fairly aggressively. I can press the peddle just slightly and it goes away...without fail. Then at approx 55-60mph it will do the same thing. The car has 304k miles. It's almost a guarantee that the car will perform in this manner. The issue happens 98% of the time at those speeds. My thought is that the IP is going out. Thoughts? Thanks much! Andy |

I do not know much concernin your year and model. But, if you believe you have an Air leak you might want to address that first. Not sure but I believe your Engine has seals on the ends of the Fuel Line connections.
I have also read where members with the newer models had to change O-rings on their Fuel Heaters that were causing Air leaks. You also might want to check threads with EGR issues for your year and model.

I have the same car and have similar problem. I disconnected cruse control linkage and the problem stopped. I my case injection pump control did not return back (cruse control was holding and the spring on injection pump is not strong enough to return linkage) after let down accelerator pedal.
