Thanks for the information on what else it could be. I did replace the pin, and it still had a rough idling after it was warmed up. So I am going to try what you suggested and see what happens. Thanks again! Happy New Year! Candy Verbeck

I had a similiar problem on my '82 240D. I did all the the above forum had suggested. All of them and more. I was ready to replace the fuel injection pump (read $$$) when someone asked if I checked the spray patterns on the NEW injectors? I of course said no, after all they were new. I pulled them, checked, and one had a bad pattern. I replaced it under warranty and the car ran GREAT and idled wonderfully.

As a follow up, after replacing the bad (new) injection nozzle, I then re-adjusted the rack pin on the fuel injection pump that stabilizes the idle. It smoothed the idle quite a bit.
