~!OFFICIAL!~ My DiEsEL wAs KeYeD! THREAD--post here if you've been a victim

It could of been a few months old, but I found a two foot long scratch obviously made by someone with ill intentions on the left rear quarter panel. This actually didn't cause me too much pain--not as much as it would of caused on one of my 201's, but it still hurt. I washed the car, tried to "remove" the scratch with a "scratch removal" compound which just made me feel even worse since I now had to get my hands deep into this crime that someone committed on my car. Then I gave up and decided to go to Costco and get myself a car cover for $35. It came with two buckles to tighten it on the front and back. Went to Harbor Freight and picked up four wheel covers which will likely get stolen from the basement shared garage my car sits in (which is incidentally why I don't install the hood star that a fellow PP member sold me months ago).

The car is always dusty when I come make my monthly or bi-weekly visits to check up on the car and work on it here and there, thereby exposing all the places where people have touched my car. The mere thought of people touching my car makes me want to hurl, but for the most part its just a few hand and paw prints here and there.

Anyways, what's gone is lost and there's no point in crying over it.

Post to this thread if your diesel was ever keyed. Even just a little At least, just to make me feel better...

Not funny - don't bother with those magic scratch repair products - they don't work

I've been keyed at least 4 times in the past 8 years. One of them was with a screwdriver, and went through the entire paint layers in a few places, and they jabbed the car twice, making two small dents. I'd have tied them to the ground and driven over them if I had found them.

I would tied them to the ground and power braked on their faces.

Why do you suppose they keyed your car?

Was it because it was a Benz you think? Or was it because someone did not like you?

have no clue, honestly. i can't speculate about the motives of other people without interrogating or at least tactically questioning them first

I prefer keying to brake fluid splattering the door!

It's definitely because we have Benzes. I stopped at JR's off I-77 a couple weeks ago for cigars (best prices for Acid Blondies, BTW) and parked way away from any other cars.

A couple of redneck, gap toothed cousin f******* hillbillies parked their ratted out pickup truck 5 inches from my SEL, took aim and slammed their door into my car, hard. I was just coming out, and they sped off.

Based on the glazed look in their eyes I'd say they started happy hour early (it was 10 in the morning) or worse. I wasn't going to mess with them and didn't get the plate. Left a nice huge ding on my front left fender. Attention Dent Doctor, cleanup on aisle 5.

Pissed me off, but it's better than getting mugged or shot.

Fortunately, never keyed. I had my star broken off a few months ago, though.

Yup, I second that sentiment, definitely because it was a Benz. Nevermind that most of our cars aren't even worth as much as a newer Honda. Most people are retarded in one way or another, and some of those retards are jealous of people who own Mercedes.

I'd be pissed if that happened. I would chase them down and call the police while in pursuit I think. Not sure what the police would do, but as long as I was an inconvenience to them, I would be satisfied.

I cannot stand that kind of action!! I'm getting worked up thinking about it.

I"ve been keyed in the WalMart parking lot and also gotten a nice door ding there. You really have to park well out in the lot to avoid these disgusting events.

Keying a Mercedes is a form of class warfare, IMO. Doesn't matter that my car is 30 years old and only cost me $2k. A guy driving a $30k pickup (on credit) is going to have a warped sense of value when it comes to these cars. People can't distinguish an old Benz from a new one. Folks in my neck of the woods raise their eyebrows when I show up at a party until they know I spent much less on my car then they did on theirs.

See, I take the opposite approach to that.

When I see some sucker with a brand new car/truck that it doesn't appear they could really afford, I just smile. Think to myself, "Hey man, I'm driving a Mercedes!"

Even with peeling clear coat and a door trim piece missing -- my hood star is nice & shiny.
