I just tore apart my 87 300TDT rear accumulators and SLS valve. The accum. are shot and after very very much ranting and raving I got them off w/o breaking anything. I also took the valve off as the lines into it are quite rotten. So my question, one of the lines that go to the accumulators has a small "pin" in under the fitting that sits in the hole where the fluid comes out. What is this for? It is loose and falls out, not sure if it is broken or from somewhere else. Anyone have a schematic of the valve? Also anyone know the size of the line and fittings from the pump?

Never seen it, and I've had this disassembled before.

I figured out what it was. I cut the old line off with a set of side cutters as I had a new one. The old line has a "rod through it I guess to center it. If you look at a piece of brake line imagine a wire in the center of the line. I am not sure what that is for as I have never seen anything like that before, I only noticed when I looked at the old line to see which end went where so to install the new one. When I cut it off a little piece stayed in the fitting.

MB had noise complaints with the early SLS systems--fluid sloshing around. The wire in the lines acts as a restrictor to provide some damping in the line. Pretty crude, but it must have been effective if they are still using it.

Ya, I could not imagine what that was for. That must have been OEM as the new one doesn't have that.

One more question, which line is which? The bottom line from the pump is it run to the outside line going to the pump or inside?
