Re-attaching mirror glass

Hi,

A few weeks back my car was in very direct afternoon sun, and it was hot enough to make things untouchable.

I noticed that my mirror glass was shaking, and so I tried to re-attach without luck. It eventually fell off in one piece.

It looks like the backing material may have been attached to the mirror body with spray adhesive, not sure though.

How should I re-attach? 3M hi-temp spray adhesive or 3M HD dual sided trim adhesive tape, or something else?

Should I apply a razor to the yellow backing material or will that damage the reflective coating?

Please advise best methods to proceed. Thanks!
