Transmission suddenly slipping badly in first gear - B2 piston?

My transmission suddenly started slipping badly in first gear, the car will move somewhat, but doesn't have any acceleration until it revs up to 4000 and shifts hard into second. Does this sound like the B2 piston problem? Other threads I've found all seem to have issues in second gear as well, but mine seems ok in second. Third, fourth, and reverse are all working fine too. I'd just like to get some confirmation before I spend $100+ on a new B2...

how's your fluid level? it really does sound like B2. it can leak tiny amounts past the seal, and keep 1st out, but work in 2nd. it could also be worn clutches... how often do you rev to 4K?

The problem went away on its own, fluid level was perfect. I'm assuming that the B2 was stuck, so I'm changing it anyway and putting in the new plastic bushing.
