Someone please look at their W123 - reference needed

Had the misfortune to hit a deer the other week while running about 40 mph in my '85 300TD. Caught it square in the grill...

Spent today pulling the radiator and a/c condenser from the car.

Primary question is... Are the angled supports straight along their length, or are they supposed to have gentle bends in them (referring to the braces to which the auxiliary fan in front of the condenser is mounted)? I can't recall, and I'm trying to get everything back to square to the maximum extent possible.

Supplemental question, can the cooling fan be separated from the viscous clutch or is it all one unit (lost two blades from mine when the radiator was pushed back far enough to contact them).

Thanks as ever,
Dave

P.S. As a side-note, and just a 'feeler' at this point, anyone not too far from Williamsburg, VA. have a good condition hood (color code 900, surfblau) and grill available?

The lower ends (3 inches, more or less) arch forward.

The support rods should not be bent very much at all, just enough bend in them so that the when the aux fan is installed it touches the AC condensor.

I was at the local pick-n-pull today, they have a few 123's, maybe an hour away from W'burg.

Yes.... They are two completely different components and can be separated.

Funny thing (actually not so funny). I had one of those damn support rods and threw it away when I was cleaning out my shed the other day (along with a Kaput cruise actuator). You should be able to find the support rods on here or in a salvage yard for very little $$. Maybe free... There are some pretty cool and helpful people around this forum. I'd send them to you if I had them.

The paint code for the 123 nearby is 172, but the hood and grille are not damaged, just old.

The angle brackets are blue at the bottom, then fade to black just above the bumper, no damage there either.
