w110 finner with 300d engine

Does anyone know anyone who has dropped a 300D engine and trans into a 1967 finner 200D. I restored the car for my wife but the 200D engine and auto box make it dangerously slow. I have a 1977 300D with a trashed body and am considering swapping the engine in.

If you had a 115 300 I bet it would be a much easier swap. That engine set up is made for the narrower confines of the 115 chassis.

I put a 5 cylinder turbo diesel engine into a W111 fintail (with the longer front end). If your 300D is the W123 body style then it will have a tall oil tower that gets in the way of the shift linkage on the column. If your car is a floor shift then it may clear.

You'll have to be creative with fabricating linkage and engine mounts. You'll also have to use a radiator from a 230 fintail that fits further up in the body so the fan clears.

It's a bit of a pain to do in a W111, but in a W110 you're working with less underhood space (lengthwise).
