Fuse 12 corroded. Wiggled it in holder, the world is fine again.

I did a search and read that the wrong kind of bulb, a double filament bulb, can screw up the circuit but the hazards are still working. Any thoughs? Not sure if it's related but my horn/backup/#14 fuse i believe, keeps blowing.
One of my 240D's had the same problem, also came back after a few days and eventually stayed off until I was forced to start searching. I obviously started by checking the net to see if anyone had a similar problem. I started off checking fuses (without removing it) with a test lamp and found all to be in "order". Then checked the flasher (large earlier one) took it apart, cleaned and reassembled it. The problem did not go away.

Yesterday I set myself the goal of sorting this out once and for all and started studying wiring diagrams in the back of the Haynes manual and after having a good understanding of it I went 1st for the fuse box. Firstly I followed advice and added a ground wire to the instrument cluster. Still without success I checked fuses with the test a light but also removed each fuse individually this time. Low and behold I found the problem, the fuse for turn signals, brake lights and temp gauge were not blown but the one end of it was so damaged that it no longer made good contact at the one end.

Needles to say I replaced the fuse and all was good. The fuses in my car are aluminum but I think the brass /copper ones are definitely a better option. Once this current lock down is over and all is good after Covid-19, I'll replace all fuses with the brass / copper ones.
