ALDA Functionality
I Have some down time from work I thought I would catch up on some tinkering. what kind of indication one can experience if the ALDA is functioning properly or not?
What's the benefit of removing it completely like many have done? thanks in advance. |

There is no test, per se, as mentioned, excessive black smoke (unburned fuel) may indicate it is providing more fuel than the amount of air drawn in can deal with.
I've adjusted the one on the SD. That car would start in second gear and be sluggish until the turbo came online. The benefit, if there not a problem elsewhere, is more performance and less mpg. Some mention that if you don't have enough fuel being delivered, there is a timing problem.

What direction did you adjust it? I've been adjusting mine CW from where it was, 1/2 turn now and I don't feel any power lost, then again my hydrogen system is helping with that and mileage is climbing and no black smoke unless I floor it then I see the black smoke for the duration it is floored. Most of the time during stop and go traffic I see gray smoke even when I accelerate harder than I normally do. |

CCW is more off-boost enrichment.

Yeah, this guy ignores any negatives about HYProgen systems though, so it seems like he needs the help.

You're correct I do ignore them. Until you present to me with your own research and testing with your car and have installed multiple system, your negative comments are from third party comments or just jump on the wagon like everyone else.
Funny thing is I asked question in regards the car I am working on and not to relate it to the Hydrogen system onboard. I am simply trying to get inputs from what I read in this forum, this car has been taken care of so I was wondering the reaction if the ALDA failed or is failing. so let's focus on the initial question. Any comments (negative) about my hydrogen system, you are just waisting valueble air or energy throwing them to me. I have proof that it works and saving people money. What else can you install on a F-350 turbo diesel, tow a 12K lbs 5th wheel plus the cargo still acellerate stong and gain 2.5 mpg to boot, oh yeah for under 700.00 and that truck is not the only one experiecing it or not just my testbeds. By the way in my "sig" those are my testbed. yes, I do need help to install the system having four employees is not keeping up with demands and installs. |

As mentioned, turn it counter clockwise to allow more fuel to flow. There is a plunger on the bottom of the aneroid capsules, the further away from the IP, the more fuel you'll get.

Lovecraft has met its match.
1-1/2 turns CCW is the initial adjustment that I use on the ALDA, if it puffs black at the first poke of the pedal it is maxed-out on the 60x engines. On the 61x engines it seems (from reading here) that an over-adjusted ALDA will smoke a bit more.

I think ALDA restricts hydrogen intake or something like that.

No, Lovecraft made a semi-successful business because he had a product with tangible results (saving money by not buying diesel). koya1893 just has bad science and the placebo effect.

I would like to chime in on the initial question vs. HHO thing. If attention was not wanted, then it would not have been solicited in the comment about Hydrogen and fuel mileage, related to the ALDA. I have gone down the HHO generator route and have spent years with different designs, etc. For the slight gain in fuel mileage vs. electrical load, etc., etc. I never reached the conclusion that it was worth it. Now, having said that and put the HHO myth to bed, based upon personal results and not 3rd party band-wagon hearsay, the ALDA adjustment seems tricky in one regard because a 617 will take off quite nicely (relatively speaking) adjusted to full, but fuel mileage tanks when driven the way they were designed. If you adjust to full CCW it'll belch like a Cummins with less fuel mileage, but better pick-up from stop. If you want better fuel mileage, you may sacrifice some power out of the hole. Somewhere in the middle is optimal for me. SO, you have to ask yourself, "How do I want this thing to perform, and at what sacrifice(s)?"

I've heard that the 61x ALDA will blow a bit of soot when fully adjusted (or removed). The 602/603 ALDA adjustment doesn't seem to have the over-fueling capacity though. With it full CCW a quick takeoff will look like a rain-cloud fell out of my car, that's it. Seems like the 602 gave me even less visible smoke.
As far as completely removimg it, you can regulate smoke with your foot as others have mentioned, but it seems a bit crude. Also you lose your altitude compensation and overboost protection.
