Altrom/Beru voltage regulator
Hi,
This morning my 82 300CD cranked show, and using my cigarette lighter volt meter, I was getting only 11.8V. Will need to pull my alternator and verify that everything is clean, etc., but also exploring my options. Since these cars typically have a slightly lower voltage operating than we see in modern cars, one thought is that regardless I should look for higher voltage regulators. Looking around I found an Altrom/Beru unit that is rated at 14.2V vice the 14V rating of bosch and others. I found it at Napa, part ATM GER003. More expensive than other regulators, but it is a 14.2V unit. Anyone ever try this? Any experience? Also, anyone have an idea of the voltage regulator rating of the remy rebuilt units? The regulator doesnt have a voltage marking on it... Thanks! |

Bosch is the only one worth spending money on. I'd get a used Bosch from the junkyards before buying any of that new Beru/Autolite/NAPA junk.

Not entirely sure, but some things point me to believe that Altrom may make the regs for bosch too.
