Buzzing part, what is it?
The buzzing sound returned after the vacuum line was plugged. I finally found the culprit. There is a part fwd of the battery with two wire connectors attached to two separate pieces.. The taller of the two, silver in color is vibrating/buzzing to beat the band. It is also rather hot, found out about that the hard way.
I have no idea what it is or what it does.

Pics
Large silver object at the right. I put 12vdc to it at the two terminals at the top, and it spins.......sorta. All the ones I looked at in the junk yard were separate and in line with a hose closer to the engine, but it seems to be the same pump

This is an auxiliary water pump designed as OEM to boost pressure and volume to the heater core, especially at idle. You'll probably find that out this winter. More than likely, the DC motor is failing. If its the same pump motor, remove one and use it.

Its not needed on later cars, but the evil servo has additional restriction to flow.

Junk yard run............ever MB if wound that had the pump used a 4 bolt pattern to mount it to the pump housing. In all cases this pump was in a different location than mine, usually over the pax inner fender well. I'm not too worried about winter in San Diego so for now I'll just disconnect the leads and if I find in the junk yard I'll replace it. The latest MB I saw there was a 92.
