looking for write-up on OM617 timing chain R&R
Hi to all,
I'm looking for a write-up on a DIY timing chain R&R. I know the chain can fail on these engines, and I'm wanting to swap mine out ASAP. Also, if you have a p/n on a timing chain kit (sprockets, guide, tensioner, chain, etc)- I'd like to buy the whole kit vs. having to piece part everything that I need to get the job done. Thanks in advance.

Thanks Adam; I went down to Burleson last night! You're not too far away from me. I'm sure this write up will help a lot. I'm looking forward to knocking it out.
Does anyone have a kit part number that consists of every part needed to do the job?

There is no parts Kit.
And, there is only sort of a consensus on the minimum Parts to replace. Does "knocking it out" mean you already have the Chain Crimping Tool in hand? DIY Repair Links http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/diy-links-parts-category/ http://www.peachparts.com/Wikka/DoItYourSelf IWIS Chains are clearly better quality than the other makes. There is a nice thread somewhere showing Pics comparing a Japanese (Beck Arnley?) Chain with an IWIS.
