I'm stumped - R&R Hydropneumatic shocks on 87 300TD
I have a leaky Hydropneumatic shock and want to change them out with a pair I sourced at the junkyard. However, I can't seem to figure out how the hydro line comes off the shock. I know that seems simple and I'm fairly mechanically inclined, but there is no pivot point or spinning nut on the line to allow it to be removed without the entire line twisting up?
Anyone R&R these on an 87'+, or have the factory manual procedure? Thanks! |

X2, correct.

i believe what the OP is missing is that the line at the shock also pivots, but when they've been on the car for a long time the flare fittings get stuck and it seems like they don't pivot at that end. they do, but it takes some patience to free them up. if i recall correctly it's the flare on the metal line between the chassis and accumulator that should pivot on the line. the flare on the shock flex line itself does not pivot. when i did the shocks on my car i found this issue and ended up removing the shock by rotating the entire shock off the line. then i cleaned up the metal line and realized the flare fitting was meant to pivot.
