OM615 in a W111 Fintail - Impossible oil drain location...

Somehow or another my fintail ended up with a OM615. That's all fine and well , but it seems the front subframe prevents the oil from leaving the pan.

So my question is two-fold:
a) Is there an alternate pan with a side/front facing drain that would fit the OM615?
b) Are 'nicer' motors such as the 617 turbo much the same?

left side of photo = rear of car. Finger pointing to drain plug...

Get a dipstick oil extractor kit. They are probably not that all expensive. People with easy access to their oil plugs even use them.

Also has that front crossmember been partially cut away? If so I would properly weld a support section to it.

Just ordered one thanks. In the mean time I'll just let it cascade into the subframe and on into the 'used oil container'.

It appears so , doesn't it. This is the only W111 I've ever laid eyes on, so I'm lost. From reading the forum, it seems the 240d swap is somewhat common - but none mention hacking up the subframe...

I have an extra front/rear axle setup (w/ discs!) that came with the car , but that leaves me with the problem of why it needed to be cut in the first place...

It's too bad they didn't put a 5 cylinder in there. I put a 5 cylinder turbo diesel engine in my W111 230S and the oil pan clearance was perfect.
